Aftercare

There is a lot of debate on how to take care of a tattoo. No care process is written in stones. This is how we do it.

BEFORE YOU GET HOME we recommend buying Aquaphor at the pharmacy. If that one isn’t available, you can get Helosan instead. There is a 24 hour open pharmacy close to our studio.

REMOVE THE FILM after a couple days. You can keep the film on for up to seven days. We usually keep it on as long as possible. If it was to be removed before that time no worries. When you remove the film, gently wash the tattooed area with luke warm water and some mild soap. Green soap works wonders, or perfume free soap that doesn’t contain any alcohol.

Let the soap and the water to the job. Dont scrub too hard. Let the tattoo air dry.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO RUB the cream completely in so there isn’t a thick layer on top making it difficult for the skin to “breath”. Putting too much on can result in an allergic reaction, like acne. Remember to wash your hands before applying the cream and dont share the tube with anyone.

To avoid thick crusts to develop, it is important to apply cream 2-3 times a day. The crust will fall of with time. It is completly normal, so don’t stress it.

SHOULD THE FILM FALL OFF EARLY do not use cream on your fresh tattoo the two first days. Wash gently once a day.

DO NOT EXPOSE the tattoo to direct sunlight. Nor to tanning bed, bathing, steam showers, scratching or picking. Do not let others touch the tattooed area either. This only applies during the healing period. How long a tattoo takes to heal varies from person to person.

TOO MAINTAIN THE COLORS after the tattoo has healed we recommend using sunscreen. The sun will make the colors fade. Do not use sunscreen under the healing process tho.
